Position Description Summary
The Director of Facilities Services at Henry Ford College provides strategic and operational leadership for facilities operations, including maintenance, custodial services, and physical plant systems. The role ensures a clean, safe, and reliable campus environment that supports student learning and employee productivity. The Director oversees work order and building management systems, renovations, new construction, and infrastructure improvements.

- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of related experience
- Leadership and team management: leadership and management, staff mentoring and development, motivating and supporting team members, and directing or delegating work across maintenance, custodial, grounds, and building systems.
- Planning, budgeting, and strategy: budget development and management, planning and organization, strategic planning, capital budgeting, annual department budgets, and long-term capital improvement and equipment planning.
- Facilities operations and project delivery: leading all areas of Facilities Services, overseeing construction and renovation projects, coordinating room use and event requests, obtaining building operations supplies, and monitoring monthly facilities expenses.
- Vendor, consultant, and procurement management: vendor and contractor negotiation, preparing quote documents with Purchasing, and working with consultants on long-term facilities master plans.
- Communication and collaboration: communicating effectively with diverse audiences, working across all college levels, explaining technical concepts to nontechnical audiences, and collaborating with Human Resources on employee relations matters in Facilities Services.
- Technical and systems expertise: planning, implementing, and supporting systems in complex educational settings, understanding complex technical topics, aligning technologies with business goals, and using energy management and work order systems effectively.
