Audubon is seeking a Director of Fabrication to oversee and manage the fabrication of modular units at a third-party modular fabricator, ensuring all activities align with project specifications, quality standards, budget, and schedule requirements.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Audubon Engineering’s design and quality requirements.
- Manage project schedules and budget oversight for fabrication.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to fabrication and execution.
- Review and approve fabrication plans, material requisitions, and work orders.
- Ensure all deliverables meet project milestones and contractual obligations.
- Manage onsite QA/QC, document control, and engineering as required.
- Enforce compliance with project and industry standards (ASME, API, AWS, etc.), customer specifications, and Audubon’s quality requirements.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and quality checks to ensure adherence to fabrication standards.
- Address quality concerns or non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure welding, NDT, coatings, and testing processes meet required specifications.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Audubon Engineering and the fabricator.
- Conduct constructability reviews and collaborate with procurement, engineering, and project management teams to ensure material availability and technical requirements are met.
- Lead regular progress meetings with the fabricator and internal teams to review status updates, challenges, and action items.
- Ensure all fabrication activities comply with OSHA, Audubon Engineering, and VG safety standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through audits and proactive hazard mitigation.
- Monitor project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and track invoices, change orders, and budget adjustments.
- Support procurement efforts by reviewing quotations, material costs, and subcontractor agreements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in fabrication management, modular construction, or related fields, preferably within oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of modular fabrication, welding processes, structural steel, and piping systems.
- Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS, and other industry standards.
- Experience with fabrication management software and scheduling tools.
- Primarily based in Houston, TX (Audubon offices) for the first 3-4 months.
- Upon start of fabrication, primarily based at the fabricator’s location.
- Upon delivery of module to site, primarily based at site location (Calcasieu, LA).
