Director of Evangelization
About the role
The Mother of God Family of Parishes (MGFP) is seeking a visionary, strategic, and faith-filled leader to serve as our full-time Director of Evangelization (DoE). As a key member of the Family Leadership Team (FLT) reporting directly to the Pastor, you will lead a team of seasoned professionals to drive the spiritual health, growth, and outward-facing mission of our vibrant three-campus Catholic community.
Responsibilities
Drive Vision & Mission: Partner with the Pastor and FLT to cultivate a joyful, sacramental, and welcoming Catholic community.
Canonical Unification: Co-create and execute operational strategies to unify our three Kettering parishes canonically.
Resource Optimization: Manage and share ministerial resources, budgets, and talent across all campuses to maximize mission impact.
Evangelization & Faith Formation: Envision and implement a clear, sequential discipleship pathway. Identify, recruit, and equip lay volunteers to step into volunteer ministry leadership and missionary discipleship roles. Select and approve doctrinally sound faith formation and sacramental preparation curricula in alignment with the Magisterium. Develop relational outreach for inactive Catholics and the unchurched, ensuring an inviting, evangelical tone across all parish communications.
Administration Staff Supervision: Lead, mentor, and conduct performance evaluations for the evangelization and faith formation staff. Conduct program assessments to measure the conversion and retention efficacy of parish offerings. Oversee compliance and record-keeping in accordance with SafeParish protocols and all relevant policies, procedures, and decrees. Collaborate with finance leadership to build and responsibly manage the annual evangelization budget.
Requirements
Catholic Faith Requirement: Deep knowledge of Catholic ecclesiology, the New Evangelization, and catechesis. Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church. Must demonstrate high spiritual maturity, fidelity to the Magisterium, an active prayer life, and the ability to articulate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Education & Experience: Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry, Theology, Religious Education, or a related field (a lesser degree with exceptional, extensive ministry leadership experience may be considered). 7+ years of professional experience mentoring, accompanying, and guiding individuals through spiritual discipleship. 7+ years of direct experience managing full-time ministerial staff, budget design, and large-scale project execution.
Skills & Abilities
Spiritual Leadership: Comfort leading spontaneous, intercessory prayers in small and large public settings.
Communication: High-level public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills across diverse demographics.
Technical Proficiency: Competence in Microsoft 365/Google Workspace; ability to learn parish software (e.g., Ministry Scheduler Pro, eCatholic).
Position Requirements
Complete and maintain active SafeParish training and clear a criminal background check.
Hold or immediately obtain Professional Catechist Certification through the Center for the New Evangelization.
