Director of Environmental Operations

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the environmental practice, including business strategy, operations, and compliance.
• Partner closely with executive leadership (CEO, CFO, CHRO) to develop and execute strategic goals.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of environmental engineers, scientists, and field professionals.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, performance, promotions, and professional development.
• Provide senior-level technical review and direction on various environmental projects.
• Strengthen existing client partnerships and lead business development initiatives to grow existing and new service offerings and footprint.
• Develop and implement sales plans, support marketing efforts, and develop proposals.
• Responsibility for the financial performance of Environmental Operations, including proposal and project budgets, tracking performance, and alignment of practice operations with financial and growth objectives.
• Develop Environmental Operations forecasting and fiscal planning associated with the company’s ESOP.
• Represent the firm through participation in trade organizations, professional conferences, networking events, and other relevant events.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related technical field (advanced degree a plus).
• Professional relevant license or certification preferred (P.E., P.G., QEP, CHMM, CEP).
• Proven successful experience in environmental consulting (minimum 10 years preferred) and a solid working knowledge of various environmental regulatory requirements.
• Strong project and client management skills.
• Leadership and/or executive-level experience (3-5 years preferred), specifically in managing multidisciplinary teams, business strategy development and implementation, and business development and growth responsibilities.
