Director of Enterprise Risk Communications & Learning
About the role
The Director of Enterprise Risk Communications & Learning serves as the strategic liaison between Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations, ensuring enterprise risk initiatives are effectively translated into operational practice. This role develops enterprise-wide learning strategies, operational communications, change management initiatives, and leadership education that strengthen patient safety, reduce organizational liability, and improve operational consistency. The Director partners closely with Executive Leadership, Legal, Clinical Operations, Human Resources, and Compliance to transform complex legal, regulatory, and risk management requirements into practical tools, training, and operational guidance. This position is critical in rebranding Risk and Legal as trusted business partners that proactively support Operations in delivering safe, compliant, high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Enterprise Learning Strategy:
- Develop and execute the enterprise learning strategy for Risk, Legal, Safety, Claims, and Compliance.
- Build scalable educational programs for facility leaders and corporate teams.
- Develop onboarding curriculum and leadership development focused on operational risk management.
- Risk & Legal Integration:
- Serve as the primary bridge between Risk, Legal, and Operations by translating legal requirements into operational expectations.
- Educate Operations on litigation trends and lessons learned.
- Prepare leaders for legal processes including investigations, witness interviews, documentation standards, and depositions.
- Operational Excellence:
- Partner with Operations to improve enterprise performance through root cause analysis facilitation, corrective action planning, standard work development, process improvement initiatives, and best practice sharing.
- Enterprise Communications & Knowledge Management:
- Develop and oversee enterprise communications supporting Risk and Legal initiatives, including executive presentations, safety campaigns, and litigation trend reports.
- Lead governance of enterprise knowledge assets—policies, procedures, operational standards, and risk playbooks—ensuring all content remains current, accessible, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Change Management & Executive Partnership:
- Lead organizational adoption for enterprise initiatives by building communication strategies, managing stakeholder engagement, and measuring adoption.
- Partner with executive leadership to improve enterprise risk culture, strengthen operational accountability, reduce litigation through education, and support strategic initiatives across the organization.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 4+ years of experience in enterprise learning, risk management, legal operations, claims, healthcare operations, organizational development, or change management
- Strong communication and presentation skills; experience developing enterprise learning programs
- Experience managing organizational change and technical writing
First 12-Month Success Measures
- Launch enterprise Risk & Legal learning curriculum
- Develop standardized operational playbooks for key risk processes
- Establish a centralized knowledge management system for Risk and Legal
- Implement a communication strategy that improves engagement with Risk and Legal initiatives
- Increase operational understanding of legal processes and documentation expectations
- Expand the Safety Champion program with standardized education and measurable competency
