Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides information to defendants, attorneys, jurors and witnesses;
- Coordinates parties for case disposition, maintains and routes court files;
- Takes charge of jurors assigned to courtroom;
- Moves cases to other divisions to expedite court docket;
- Coordinates interpreters for defendants and witnesses;
- Opens and closes court;
- Receives and responds to requests for information by telephone and in person.
May perform data entry on case dispositions, prepare jury instructions and verdict forms; maintain court reporter log; maintain evidence; monitor recordings and video equipment.

Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED;
- Experience: At least 1 year clerical experience preferably in a law enforcement or judicial environment;
- Knowledge: Knowledge of judicial practices and procedures, data entry and retrieval procedures; and personal computers including related software applications preferred;
- Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens, handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; maintain order and decorum in the court room; compose routine reports; and prepare forms and records accurately;
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills; skill in passing an alpha numeric data entry test preferably at a minimum rate of 5000 net strokes per hour.
Licenses, Certificates, or Equipment Required: This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment. Selected candidate must take and pass a drug and background tests as a condition of employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds; constant walking and standing; occasional lifting and carrying; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and justice system personnel; vision for reading and review of written material and documents; hand/eye coordination for operation of audio/visual equipment used in court room, computer terminal and office equipment.
