About the role

This role exists to lead and manage Candid's engineering team in delivering high-quality Pre-FEED and FEED engagements for clients in various sectors including power generation, gas-to-power, LNG, midstream, and downstream projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in directing or leading these phases and will be comfortable working in a startup environment with AI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Pre-FEED and FEED engagements for Candid's clients
  • Lead and manage a multi-discipline engineering team (process, electrical, mechanical, piping)
  • Set the bar for quality and ensure end-to-end delivery
  • Own the assembly and quality of critical documents such as design basis packages, heat and mass balances, single-lines, equipment lists, P&IDs, PFDs, datasheets, utility summaries, and gate-review packages
  • Be the authoritative engineering voice in client conversations
  • Collaborate with the product and AI team to automate workflows
  • Ensure Candid's automated outputs meet quality standards
  • Advisory on execution strategy, PDRI scoring, and gate-review readiness
  • Shape Candid's delivery methodology and standards

Requirements

  • 15+ years in capital project execution, with significant time in power generation, gas-to-power, LNG, midstream, or petrochemical facilities
  • Significant experience directing or leading Pre-FEED, FEED, or Concept Select phases end to end
  • Experience leading power or gas-to-power projects (combined cycle, simple cycle, cogeneration, or gas-to-power for data center and BTM campuses)
  • Management experience of multi-discipline engineering teams across process, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation
  • Expertise in FEL stage-gate processes, PDRI, AACE cost estimate classes, design basis development, and relevant codes and frameworks
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, ambiguous environment without bureaucracy
  • Positive attitude towards AI and its potential to improve current workflows

Qualifications

  • Fluency in FEL stage-gate processes, PDRI, AACE cost estimate classes, design basis development, and relevant codes and frameworks
  • Experience with turbine OEM selection and packaging (GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power) at a program level
  • Ability to read process simulation outputs even if not proficient in running the tools
  • Network and relationships within the Houston EPC and owner-operator ecosystem
