Working in close partnership with the Vice President of Marketing, the Director will help shape and execute the University’s digital experience strategy, translating Marketing and institutional priorities into effective, accessible, measurable, and sustainable digital experiences. The position combines strategic planning with hands-on responsibility for website management, user experience, search visibility, analytics, digital accessibility, and platform integrations. The Director will report to the Vice President of Marketing while maintaining a close strategic and operational partnership with Information Technology Services. The role will also serve as a key cross-functional participant in major digital-platform implementations and transitions that affect the website, intranet, enrollment experience, authentication, and other constituent-facing services.

Responsibilities

  • Website, CMS & Digital Platform Management: Serve as the primary administrator and technical owner of the University’s content management system, currently Umbraco; manage CMS configuration, templates, publishing workflows, permissions, upgrades, testing, and enhancements; diagnose and resolve issues involving publishing, rendering, indexing, forms, integrations, and site performance; oversee the structure, usability, and ongoing evolution of the RWU intranet; maintain appropriate documentation for platform configuration, integrations, technical processes, and support procedures; partner with Information Technology Services and external vendors on hosting, infrastructure, security, authentication, integrations, and technical implementation.
  • User Experience, Search & Analytics: Improve digital experiences for prospective students and families across key journeys, including inquiry, application, visit scheduling, program exploration, financial aid, and enrollment; partner with Marketing and Admissions to reduce friction and improve performance across high-priority pages, forms, and conversion pathways; lead technical and on-page search engine optimization, including metadata, structured data, internal linking, page performance, and content optimization; support efforts to improve Roberts’ visibility and accurate representation in AI-powered search and generative answer platforms; oversee web analytics platforms, including Google Analytics and Google Search Console, and translate data into actionable recommendations; develop dashboards and reporting related to traffic, engagement, user behavior, conversions, and enrollment-relevant outcomes; conduct testing and iterative improvements where appropriate.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Digital Transformation: Maintain a close working partnership with Information Technology Services to ensure digital platforms are secure, integrated, sustainable, and aligned with University technology standards; serve as a key participant in major University platform implementations, migrations, and integrations that affect the website, intranet, enrollment experience, authentication, and other constituent-facing services; represent user experience, content, accessibility, branding, navigation, and communication needs in cross-functional technology projects; work collaboratively with Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, Academic Affairs, Human Resources, Student Life, and other departments to identify digital needs and develop sustainable solutions; serve as a bridge between Marketing, Information Technology Services, University departments, and external vendors; support planning, testing, content migration, change management, and adoption for new digital platforms and services
