Yachad, a division of The Orthodox Union, supports individuals with intellectual, developmental, and learning disabilities. Yachad helps these individuals participate more fully in Jewish life and the broader society by providing educational, employment, and relationship opportunities.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the U.S., founded in 1898. The OU supports a vast network of synagogues, youth programs, advocacy efforts, services for individuals with disabilities, and international initiatives. It also operates the leading kosher certification service, recognized globally by the Ⓤ symbol on numerous kosher food products.

About Yachad

• Operates the largest stand-alone Jewish special education school system (IVDU), with 4 schools in New York and New Jersey, educating 150 students annually.
• Operates adult day programs in New York and New Jersey, focusing on skill development and community contribution.
• Provides diverse summer opportunities for individuals with disabilities, including inclusive camp experiences, vocational programs, travel programs, and vacation-style programs with single-gender and co-educational options.
• Operates 10 regions serving over 20 communities, offering social and relationship opportunities through weekday evening programs, Shabbatonim, and more, with over 1000 participants annually.
• Runs the first-of-its-kind free resource and referral service (REACH), offering data-informed referrals to families worldwide.
• Engages school-aged and college-aged youth in volunteerism and service to promote inclusivity and desensitize attitudes toward individuals with disabilities.

About the Role

Yachad is seeking a relationship-driven and strategic Director of Development to lead fundraising efforts in Yachad South Florida, its fastest-growing region. The Director of Development will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of charitable gifts from existing and new donors, as well as cultivating and maintaining relationships with key community members to strengthen Yachad’s fundraising capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a portfolio of fundraising donors and prospects through all phases of the giving cycle, from validation and engagement to cultivation, solicitation, gift negotiation, and stewardship, with the goal of growing the campaign to a minimum of $500K annually.
• Conduct a minimum of 60 prospect meetings annually to cultivate and solicit prospects and close gifts.
• Complete a minimum of 30 major gift solicitations annually.
• Plan and organize fundraising events to help fulfill fundraising goals.
• Work in partnership with the Regional Director to identify key prospects and leaders who will advance Yachad South Florida’s fundraising efforts.
• Manage communications and follow-up, including detailed contact reports on all donor prospects in the portfolio and updating all moves in Yachad’s CRM, Velocity.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 7 years of fundraising or related transferable experience.
• Strong commitment to Jewish philanthropy and serving the disability community.
• Experience presenting priorities and information clearly and compellingly, both in writing and in person.
• Previous demonstrated experience successfully closing 5- and 6-figure gifts.
• Strong knowledge of the philanthropic Jewish community in Florida is essential.
• Highly motivated self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing an annual campaign strategy.
