Village Christian School (VCS) is a Christ-centered K–12 school in Los Angeles, California, serving over 1,600 students from more than 200 churches across Southern California. About the Role

The Director of Development serves as the school’s primary major gift officer and donor relationship builder. Reporting to the Vice President and Head of School, this full-time role is responsible for developing major donor gifts, coordinating capital campaigns, and building relationships with donor groups.

The ideal candidate sees fundraising as ministry — someone who leads with relationships and advances the school’s mission through authentic, long-term donor partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and steward major donors to support the school’s financial goals and strategic initiatives.
• Coordinate capital campaigns and manage donor relations.
• Build and maintain relationships with donor groups to foster ongoing support.
• Engage with the broader community to promote the school’s mission and attract new donors.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of successful fundraising experience, preferably in a K-12 educational setting.
• Proven track record of securing major gifts and managing donor portfolios.
• Experience with capital campaigns and donor stewardship.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles and practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
• Experience with donor management systems and fundraising software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion for education and a commitment to the Christian faith.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
