Core Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of the strategic fundraising plan across state government, high-net-worth individuals, national and NM foundations, and impact investors;
  • Refine the capital development framework (methodology, sequencing, goal-setting) into an actionable annual plan;
  • Advise on fundraising “win” conditions and decision frameworks to prioritize across and within channels;
  • Evaluate fundraising vehicles, including considerations of structure, cost, and capacity;
  • Lead day-to-day execution across fundraising workstreams, team members, the Capital Development Committee, and consultants.

Pipeline, Operations, and Grants

  • Build and maintain the prospective funder pipeline, reconciled into a unified, deduplicated pipeline;
  • Administer the fundraising CRM (Monday.com or other platform, e.g. Salesforce Nonprofit, CiviCRM, Grist), enforce data standards and pipeline visibility, and lead migration to a permanent platform if warranted;
  • Manage the grant pipeline, writing and coordinating compelling applications, supervising or collaborating with contracted grant writers, and maintaining application templates;
  • Convene and lead a standing capital development meeting, driving deliverables and team momentum;
  • Assist with coordination of the Capital Development Committee and serve as primary staff liaison.

Narrative, Impact, & Communications

  • Refine and shape messaging frameworks, theory of change, strategic narrative, and public positioning with the CEO and leadership team;
  • Partner with NMCIC staff to refine and apply impact metrics (climate change mitigation and adaptation, GHG emissions reduced/avoided, energy burden reduction, and benefit to low-income and disadvantaged communities/LIDAC), and translate results into compelling funder and investor reporting;
  • Advise on public statements, op-eds, and sign-on letters in conjunction with the communications lead;
  • Identify strategic leverage points including public narrative, donor mobilization, and stakeholder engagement.

Coalition & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Serve as lead for strategic stakeholder development and outreach across all fundraising channels and donor/client engagement;
  • Advisory on outreach involving board, committee, and staff to institutional partners, philanthropy, and state government;
  • Coordinate with coalitions of peer green banks on joint fundraising strategies and identify the best opportunities for NMCIC.
