About the Role
In this position, you will lead design and/or consulting team members within a business unit, office, or region. You will also contribute to business development for assigned markets and participate in the recruitment, development, and retention of design and consulting professionals.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects as a Project Design Director, ensuring effective project outcomes and financial goals.
- Project Management:
- Monitor project assignments of team members and advise leadership on staff utilization.
- Coordinate with business unit leaders on project assignments.
- Organizational Change Management:
- Participate in planning for organizational changes.
- Assist in developing change management communications plans.
- Financial:
- Assist leadership in developing budgets.
- Monitor utilization and expenses of assigned team members and report deviations.
- Strategy:
- Assist in developing business strategies related to team members.
- Leadership:
- Champion corporate strategies and initiatives.
- Conduct performance reviews and career development for team members.
- May lead office leadership and team member engagement.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures.
- Travel as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture (preferred).
- 12 years of progressive experience in a design discipline, including independent lead design and design management/coordination as a manager or director.
- Experience managing multiple large projects with several disciplines.
Qualifications
- Professional registration or eligibility for registration.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred).
- Knowledge and experience in design project management, including budgeting, scheduling, proposal writing, staffing, coordination, forecasting, conflict resolution, and change management.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of design document production and presentation software.
- Strong communication, negotiation, management, and leadership skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ordinary ambulatory skills to visit other locations.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift/move weights of 10-50 pounds.
- Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity for keyboard and equipment use.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, talking, and hearing.
