The position of Director of Data Engineering, Healthcare is currently being managed by a partner company on behalf of a high-impact technical leadership role. This role is based in the United States and involves owning the vision and execution of scalable data platforms that power analytics, reporting, personalization, and outcomes measurement for high-need patient populations. It requires blending hands-on technical depth with strategic leadership, guiding a high-performing engineering team while shaping enterprise-grade data architecture.

Accountabilities

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and execution of the healthcare data platform, including ingestion, warehousing, transformation, analytics, and reporting systems that power core product and business functions.

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of data engineers, providing technical direction, coaching, and performance management.

  • Design and implement scalable data product capabilities, including outcomes reporting, personalization systems, and customer-facing analytics.

  • Drive the development of next-generation attributed outcomes reporting that supports customer expansion and demonstrates measurable healthcare impact.

  • Ensure high data quality standards across the entire data lifecycle, including integration of complex third-party and partner datasets.

  • Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, sales, and customer success teams to align data initiatives with business and clinical goals.

  • Strengthen data privacy, security, and compliance practices, ensuring adherence to healthcare standards such as HITRUST.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles, including at least 8 years in people management and 5+ years leading data engineering teams.

  • Strong hands-on technical capability with willingness to stay close to systems and architecture when needed.

  • Deep healthcare data experience (5+ years), including exposure to claims, eligibility, labs, PBM data, HEDIS exports, or similar healthcare datasets.

  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and operating production-grade data systems in complex environments.

  • Strong experience in data analytics, reporting, and translating data into actionable business insights.

  • Expertise in data strategy, governance, reliability, and operational excellence in production systems.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage effectively across executives, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with modern data stack tools such as SQL, Python, dbt, Redshift, Fivetran, Airflow, Postgres, and AWS.

  • Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance practices in regulated environments.
