About the role
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Director of Construction Management to lead and develop a team of Project Managers and the delivery of project management services on major projects and programs. This individual will ensure service excellence in service delivery, continued growth of the project management service offering, client engagement, and market outreach. The successful candidate will be a driven leader with strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead a project management team, ensuring they deliver on all accountabilities.
- Oversee client communications and project management team services.
- Conduct research on construction market conditions, including analysis of official published data.
- Produce thought leadership reports providing valuable insights to the construction market.
- Lead the strategic and operational management of Project Management Services across sectors, including resource planning, financial management, business generation, and training and development.
- Set a clear strategy and ambition with the team in line with the Business Plan.
- Grow and develop exceptional people, promoting a culture of learning, respect, and inclusivity.
- Ensure knowledge management by inputting key information and learning from each commission into internal databases and sharing it.
- Identify and act upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and participation in ISO audits.
- Develop priority plans including risk mitigation, performance measurements via KPIs, and management controls based on company goals.
- Undertake internal BMS audits and coordinate external audits.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the market, act as a brand ambassador, and create a pipeline of opportunity with existing and new clients.
- Identify and act upon cross-selling opportunities.
- Participate in meetings with senior leadership, directors, and staff; prepare and deliver presentations.
- Track ongoing revenue, margin levels, and monthly fees using internal software; manage resource requirements for each commission.
- Prepare proposals and RFP responses for new clients/projects.
- Attend networking events and other promotional opportunities with directors.
- Support the training and mentorship of current staff and promote upward career trajectories.
- Proactively partner with the talent acquisition team to attract top talent and manage resource requirements.
- Be a role model driving a "one business" culture that balances outcomes for people, clients, stakeholders, and society.
- Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- Graduate degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering is preferred.
- 12+ years of relevant construction project management experience.
- 2+ years managing large, high-performing, multi-discipline teams in a consulting environment.
- Proven track record of managing successful project management service delivery for clients.
- Exceptional business development ambition and acumen with demonstrated experience driving business growth.
- Major construction sector experience working with high-caliber clients in commercial real estate, data centers, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, natural resources, etc.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills.
