About the Role

The Director of Clinical Education holds the academic and clinical heart of both the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI) and OnlinePetHealth (OPH). This highly visible role sets the educational standard for the veterinary rehabilitation profession, mentors faculty, and serves as a recognized voice for the future of veterinary rehabilitation on global stages. The role carries a distinguished lineage, with previous holders including Dr. Janet Van Dyke and Dr. Kara Amstutz, both DACVSMR and widely respected leaders in the field.

The Platforms

Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI)

The premier hands-on certification and continuing-education provider in canine rehabilitation. CRI is RACE-approved and recognized by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). Since 2002, it has certified over 1,800 veterinarians, physical therapists, and credentialed veterinary technicians/nurses across dozens of countries. Programs include rehabilitation therapist (CCRT), acupuncture (CVAT), veterinary nurse and assistant pathways, and orthotics and prosthetics. CRI’s model combines online didactic study with immersive, in-person laboratory instruction and live “dog professor” patients, emphasizing a collaborative approach between veterinarians and physical therapists.

OnlinePetHealth (OPH)

A global continuing-education membership community of more than 15,000 veterinary rehabilitation professionals. OPH delivers monthly webinars across small-animal, equine, and hydrotherapy tracks, alongside a weekly podcast, blog, research summaries, business training, and the annual Vet Rehab Summit. Its library features content from over 100 expert lecturers worldwide, supporting members' CPD requirements.

Together, CRI and OPH form an integrated education ecosystem reaching professionals from their first certification through a full career of advanced learning.

Responsibilities

  • Academic and Content Leadership: Oversee educational content for CRI certification and continuing-education courses, and eventually for OnlinePetHealth webinars, blogs, and podcasts. Review and approve all content, ensuring alignment with current peer-reviewed research and best practices. Champion evidence-based practice and support clinical research advancements in the field. Attend all CRI in-person courses to oversee content delivery.
  • Program and Curriculum Development: Lead the development of new certifications and continuing-education offerings. Build integrated learning pathways connecting the OPH community to CRI certification, leveraging shared content across both platforms.
  • Faculty Leadership: Manage and lead faculty in course preparation, lecturing, and teaching in lab and TA roles. Recruit, retain, and develop a high-caliber roster of lecturers and teaching assistants to ensure consistent teaching quality.
  • Accreditation and Quality Stewardship: Maintain CRI’s RACE and AAVSB standing and OPH’s CPD accreditations. Safeguard the integrity of education, assessment, and certification records in collaboration with the Administrative Coordinator.
  • Operational Coordination: Direct the CRI Administrator to ensure professional execution of onsite preparations. Coordinate with the Education Growth and Enrolment Manager to promote programs and convert prospective students. Partner cross-functionally with Paw Prosper executives in Marketing, Business Development, and other departments to align educational programming with organizational objectives.
  • Thought Leadership and External Presence: Serve as a visible face of veterinary rehabilitation education by speaking at domestic and international conferences. Build and publish thought leadership through OPH’s podcast, webinar, and editorial channels, as well as professional publications. Cultivate relationships with veterinary schools, specialty colleges, and professional organizations (e.g., AARV, ACVSMR, IAVRPT) to strengthen CRI and OPH’s standing in the field.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) from an accredited institution, with an active license in good standing.
  • Substantial experience teaching, lecturing, or instructing in veterinary rehabilitation, with outstanding public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Deep clinical expertise in canine rehabilitation, including orthopedic and neurological conditions, pain management, sports medicine, therapeutic exercise, and physical modalities.
  • Demonstrated experience developing curriculum or educational content.
  • Leadership experience managing and developing people or faculty.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and attend all in-person CRI courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DACVSMR diplomate status or other advanced credentials.
  • Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) certification.
  • A record of peer-reviewed publication, authorship, or research contribution in the field.
  • Leadership or active involvement in organized veterinary medicine (AARV, ACVSMR, IAVRPT, or similar).
  • Experience with online and hybrid education, learning management systems, webinars, podcasts, and digital content production.
  • International teaching experience and comfort working across a global professional community.
