About the role
The Director of Clery Compliance serves as the principal official responsible for managing and monitoring Brown University’s compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act) via partnerships with offices across the University. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, they ensure the University executive administration is fully apprised of, and supports, compliance with the Clery Act across their respective divisions.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the University's designated 'Campus Safety Survey Administrator' and Records Custodian for all Clery Act-associated records.
- Develops and updates the University's Clery Act compliance policy and ensures compliance thereto.
- Serves as the University's principal official responsible for managing and monitoring compliance with the Clery Act.
- Convenes and leads a university-wide Clery Act Compliance Committee with representatives from applicable offices to oversee Clery Act compliance across the University, including any additional and/or satellite campuses.
- Coordinates the University's Clery Act compliance program by developing and updating the University's Clery Act compliance policy and ensuring compliance across campus.
- Builds relationships with colleagues across campus in support of campus safety and Clery compliance efforts.
- Develops and conducts training for University stakeholders and CSAs.
- Prepares, publishes, and ensures the distribution for the Annual Security Report (ASR) and the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR).
Requirements
- Graduate degree in a related field.
- Five years of state and/or federal compliance and regulatory experience in higher education.
- A minimum of eight years of state/federal compliance and regulatory work experience – preferably in the Clery Act and/or Title IX areas in higher education, showing a progression of responsibility and leadership.
- Certification as a Clery Compliance Officer (CCO) or other related certification.
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- Extensive working knowledge of software solutions for non-profits.
- Fluent in Spanish.
- Fluent in American Sign Language.

- The salary range for this role is $104,000 to $114,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
