About the role
Good Shepherd Services seeks a results-driven, energetic, and compassionate leader to serve as the Director of Case Management/Social Services for its 17th Street Residential Programs. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership within a youth-centered, family-focused framework, promoting safety, permanency, and well-being for female adolescents residing in a 35-bed, 24/7 hard-to-place group residence.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to integrate, sustain, and continuously strengthen high-quality case management practices across the group residence.
- Promote permanent connections for youth, including reunification, foster boarding home placement, adoption, and alternative permanent living arrangements.
- Embed a Family Systems approach through supervision, treatment team structures, and program practices.
- Ensure all city and state mandates and regulations are communicated, understood, and adhered to by the case planning team.
- Oversee compliance with all mandated documentation and records related to ACS, OCFS, Family Court, permanency hearings, and Good Shepherd Services Impact & Evaluation requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Residential Life leadership and Behavioral Health teams to address systemic and individual casework needs.
- Participate in internal and external committees, meetings, workgroups, and task forces related to youth advocacy and child welfare.
- Provide direct supervision to the Assistant Director of Social Services and support the Case Planning team, including assessment of training needs.
- Partner with the FTC facilitator to center youth and family voice and choice while maintaining focus on safety, permanency, and well-being goals.
- Work with the Impact & Evaluation Department on data integrity, documentation, outcome monitoring in Connections, and required reporting.
- Collaborate with Good Shepherd Services support departments including IT, Training, Human Resources, and Government Contracts.
- Assist with stabilization, crisis management, respite services, and provide on-call support as needed.
- Perform emergency coverage when required, including home visits and court appearances.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education, Licensure, and Experience:
- LMSW or LCSW preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
- Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents and older youth in residential settings and with families.
Required Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including possible on-call responsibilities.
- Ability to travel throughout NYC using public transportation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of ACS child welfare systems, Family Court processes, and OCFS standards of practice.
- Experience with Connections (CNNX), Legal Tracking System (LTS), Permanency Hearing Reports (PHR), Family Assessment and Service Plans (FASP), and Family Team Conferences (FTC).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Collaborative leadership style and strong team orientation.
