Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree required.
  • Valid Texas teacher’s certificate or other credentials required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.
  • Valid Texas certificate in Supervision, Administration, and/or Mid-Management Administrator or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff

Major Responsibilities And Duties

  • Aid in the development/maintenance of Board policies related to student services.
  • Conduct staff development for district personnel regarding discipline, Section 504, Special Education MD ARDS, enrollment/attendance, and any other district programs.
  • Organize and maintain student transfers/admissions systems and supervise maintenance of those records.
  • File appropriate school district reports with federal/state agencies.
  • Cookinate the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program and serve as liaison to the JJAEP schools.
  • Conduct hearings in matters that involve the administration, the discipline of students, and other matters as directed by the executive director of student services.
  • Remain current in the field by reading professional literature, by attending professional conferences or meetings, and discussing developments/problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
  • Conduct district investigations for Title IX.
  • Serve as a hearing officer for FNG complaints.
  • Maintain the District Student Handbook/Code of Student Conduct.
  • Coordinate and oversee district attendance initiatives to improve student attendance, reduce chronic absenteeism, and support student engagement across all campuses.
  • Supervise and evaluate district attendance officers and other attendance personnel as assigned, ensuring compliance with state attendance laws, district procedures, and professional standards.
  • Monitor district attendance trends, analyze attendance data, and provide recommendations to district and campus administrators regarding attendance improvement strategies and interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor attendance and truancy-prevention programs.
  • Serve as the district liaison for attendance and truancy matters with campus administrators, law enforcement agencies, courts, community organizations, and governmental agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal attendance requirements, including Texas Education Code provisions related to compulsory attendance and truancy prevention measures.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to campus administrators, counselors, attendance clerks, and other district personnel regarding attendance laws, documentation requirements, and intervention strategies.
  • Coordinate district attendance review processes and support campuses in implementing multi-tiered attendance interventions for students exhibiting chronic absenteeism.
  • Collaborate with campus and district staff to identify and remove barriers to student attendance, including coordinating support services and community resources when appropriate.
  • Prepare and submit required attendance reports and documentation to state and local agencies and provide regular attendance updates to district leadership.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of residency, enrollment, and attendance-related concerns as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of professional and paraprofessional staff members as assigned to the department.

Working Conditions

  • Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Coordinate campus functions. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
