Director of Audiology: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (Open Rank)

About the Role

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Director of Audiology. This senior leadership role will build and sustain a premier academic Audiology Program at the University of Colorado Hospital and its satellite facilities. The Director will expand educational and research opportunities, facilitate innovative programs and clinical trials, and provide high-level audiology care in Colorado. The position includes part-time clinical audiologic care.

An audiologist with clinical and administrative experience, a track record in clinical, translational, and/or outcomes research, and graduate education experience is preferred. The department serves over 14,000 patient visits annually and includes 20 audiologists across multiple locations, offering comprehensive services including diagnosis of hearing loss, rehabilitation, and vestibular evaluations. Graduate student education is integrated with trainees from the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at CU Boulder and other universities.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative programs and clinical trials in hearing health care
• Partner with Otology Surgical faculty to grow the otologic surgical practice (e.g., cochlear implant program)
• Develop auditory translational research activities in the School of Medicine
• Compete for local and national grant funding from NIH and auditory device companies
• Develop partnerships with hearing device companies and industry partners to support clinical trials and innovation
• Oversee otolaryngology resident teaching in audiology
• Collaborate with the SLHS Department at CU Boulder in coordinating clinical teaching for audiology graduate students

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctor of Audiology (AuD) and/or PhD in Audiology/related field
• Ability to obtain a Colorado license
• Assistant Professor: 1+ years of clinical and research experience
• Associate Professor: 3+ years of clinical and research experience
• Professor: 5+ years of clinical and research experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of management experience
• Experience in a large audiology practice in an urban center providing comprehensive audiology services
• Proven track record in obtaining extramural funding, including collaboration with international researchers

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is:

• Assistant Professor: $86,215 - $130,680
• Associate Professor: $139,743 - $162,699
• Professor: $190,200 - $255,755

The salary of the finalist(s) will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
