Director of Athletics, Interim

About the role

The Athletic Director oversees the entire athletic program at the school site, manages funds according to Aspire Public Schools guidelines, builds the program within the community, liaises with community athletic programs, selects and evaluates coaches, and maintains athletic facilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure eligibility of athletes for program participation
• Schedule and coordinate supervision of all home and away athletic contests or programs
• Oversee SCIAA, TSSAA OR TMSSSA eligibility status of coaches and follow their rules and regulations
• Work with coaching staff to develop goals for program improvement and assess progress
• Develop and manage athletic budgets tied to coaching objectives
• Supervise fundraising
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment
• Ensure safety standards are met in all facilities
• Communicate with the public about the athletic program
• Involves students and parents in athletic development and evaluation
• Prepare and deliver communications concerning the athletic program
• Auxiliary: Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of district regulations and guidelines for each event
• Ability to lift, move, and set-up event equipment
• Knowledge or ability to learn how to set-up and use sound system and scoreboards
• Ability to work with coaches, officials and administrators to assure a safe environment
• Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
