Director of Athletic Creative Content

About the Role
Northwestern College is seeking applicants who can lead in the new age of digital sports communication as the Director of Athletic Creative Content. This 12-month, full-time position will conceptualize and execute creative video highlights, video projects, social media and website graphics, and develop graphic design collateral for external units to promote all athletic programs. The role coordinates all social media platforms, ensuring regular content updates on the department’s main accounts, and plays an integral role in communications, marketing, development, and creative efforts for the athletic department.
Responsibilities
- Research, strategize, conceptualize, propose, and design creative projects for electronic, print, web, and interactive media.
- Collect content during events for recruiting, marketing, storytelling, and recaps.
- Serve as the primary media coordinator for Red Raider social media pages.
- Collaborate in brainstorming meetings to elevate graphic design, branding, and storytelling opportunities across social media, broadcasts, and fundraising.
- Shoot and create content for all 22 NAIA sports in collaboration with student videographers, including production and distribution of video across social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) for feature stories, highlights, and previews.
- Develop creative video and motion graphics for in-game videoboards.
- Supervise and mentor student employees in creative video production.
- Coordinate and assign graphic content relevant to today’s digital sports market.
- Creatively use social media to promote Red Raider student-athletes and programs.
- Monitor sport-specific social media pages.
- Lead processes for translating the brand style guide into daily content applications across graphics, video, photo, and animation.
- Lead the photography team, casting vision for photographic expression.
- Assist with sports informational duties as a member of the athletic communications department.
- Work collaboratively with the college marketing and communications department to promote a consistent "Stand Out, Red Raider" brand.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, sport management, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of related experience in sports creative content.
- Hands-on experience in creative video, photo, animation, or graphic design.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience managing multiple social media accounts across platforms.
- Ability to create and publish original, high-quality content.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, creative, professional).
- Problem-solving ability, versatility, efficiency, and attention to detail.
- Ability to stay updated on industry trends and innovative approaches.
- Ability to rapidly prepare graphics in real-time for emerging news and team accomplishments.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and manage multiple responsibilities.
