Position Overview

Responsible for Daily operation of assigned Asphalt Facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate continuous leadership in supporting our core values: Safety, Integrity, and Quality. Drive to ZERO by managing the process and leading our people.
  • Support product quality and customer service by maintaining strong line of communication with Quality Control Manager and QC staff.
  • Serve as the leader of assigned TNJ Asphalt operations, plan and implement operational changes based on plant performance and sales demand. Coordinate with all Asphalt associates to produce a quality product at the most efficient cost. Work with all Asphalt associates to schedule required work load and maintenance needs.
  • Complete all daily reporting necessary to the assigned operations.
  • Issue daily work assignments for associates; verify proper training and necessary equipment requirements are met.
  • Act as liaison between regulatory inspectors and management.
  • Analyze monthly variable costs reporting maintaining excellent cost control processes.
  • Aid area manager in creating annual operating budget as well as identifying capital replacement/profit improvement projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the area of preventive maintenance providing excellent plant reliability and cost control.
  • Identify associates for future development within Tilcon.
  • Add additional duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Required - BS/BA in Civil Engineering or practical work experience, 10 years +; 5 years experience in Asphalt operations and leadership role. Preferred - Working knowledge of various database programs including Viewpoint, PEAK, and E-Maint.
  • Work Requirements: Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals and regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, staff, customers and the general public. Knowledge and understanding of basic operating procedures and mechanics of asphalt plant. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to, but not limited to, safety, the environment and transportation. Ability to detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly. Must possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to and from the job site.
  • Knowledge/Skill Requirements: Working knowledge of English and Math, office practices and procedures. Ability to maintain records and files. Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with other personnel. Ability to carry out complex oral and written instructions and deal with complex problems. Ability to give presentations to both associates and senior members of the organization explaining complex solutions to problems. Ability to perform intermediate mathematical skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and shop math. Ability to use a computer to communicate and analyze data. This includes but is not limited to the use of Outlook, MS Office programs, and web-based programs. Be familiar with all roles, equipment, and tasks associated with your project(s) and have the ability and willingness to fill in on any role or task as necessary.

The employee is required to use a computer for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus.
