About the role
The Director of Alumni & Constituent Relations serves as the chief engagement officer in the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design. This position is primarily responsible for providing leadership, stewardship, and guidance for the college’s engagement efforts with alumni, donors, and friends to increase constituent engagement and philanthropic support for the college.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, stewardship, and guidance for the college’s engagement efforts with alumni, donors, and friends to increase constituent engagement and philanthropic support for the college.
- Collaborates with college and university colleagues to further Virginia Tech’s overall engagement and institutional advancement goals and objectives.
- Plans, promotes, executes, and evaluates alumni engagement programs, projects, and events for the college.
- In collaboration with the college’s Director of Marketing and Communications, strategizes and implements targeted alumni communication efforts for the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design.
- Provides leadership, stewardship, and logistical support for all college and school advisory boards and committees.
- Identifies potential board members, organizes retreats, meetings, and trainings, and guides communications specific to this constituency with a focus on diversifying membership.
- Contributes to the college’s fundraising efforts and actively identifies, engages, and cultivates constituents who have the capacity and inclination for philanthropic support.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement, and build constituency programs and activities that increase engagement levels.
- Evidence of the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with people from a range of backgrounds and differing perspectives.
- Strong computer skills, including desktop publishing experience and a general knowledge of customer relationship management software.
- Evidence of the ability to analyze available data to help strategize best outcomes for engagement efforts.
Qualifications
- Master’s or professional degree in a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with substantial related experience comparable to an advanced degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education, independent school, or non-profit environment.
- Demonstrated experience in alumni engagement and/or client-relations.
- Demonstrated experience cultivating, managing, and training volunteers and developing volunteer leadership.
Pay
$70,000 - $75,000
Schedule
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
