Director of Alumnae/i Relations & Development Marketing & Communications
About the role
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Constituent Engagement, the Director of Alumnae/i Relations & Development Marketing & Communications plays a key part in advancing the communication goals of the Alumnae/i Relations and Development (ARD) department to engage alumnae/i, families, faculty, staff, and friends. The Director will manage and oversee the work of two direct reports: The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications and the Senior Communications Specialist and will oversee, conceive and carry out marketing strategies and communications in collaboration with colleagues in the departments of Alumnae/i Relations and Development and College Communications.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Constituent Engagement team to create a comprehensive strategy for short- and long-term donor growth of The Bryn Mawr Fund including the two Graduate Funds.
- Work with the AVP for Constituent Engagement to develop and execute a strategic communications plan each year to maximize fundraising results through segmented cross-channeled mass communications involving direct mail; phone-a-thon; email; website, texting, and social media.
- Ensure Advancement communications align with institutional messaging, brand standards, and the College's mission and values.
- Partner closely and collaborate with College Communications and other campus partners to ensure coordinated, strategic, and effective messaging.
- Manage and oversee the work of two direct reports.
- Manage and oversee creation and production, from draft through distribution of final product, communications to Bryn Mawr’s constituencies. Types of projects include targeted short-term online giving campaigns, brochures, letters, emails, inserts, invitations, web site content, and ads.
- Ensure error-free content and successful completion of marketing projects by managing production schedules, data pulls, and tracking costs and expenditures for each project.
- Show measurable results, which include bringing direct mail, phone-a-thon, texting, and online appeal results to a "higher" level in terms of increased giving, donor participation growth, or demonstrating procedural improvements.
- Research trends in solicitation marketing.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Key Relationships
This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Constituent Engagement and may also have direct contact with various members of the Alumnae/i Relations and Development team, College community, including the President’s Office, Board of Trustees, College Communications, the Graduate Schools, faculty, administrators, alumnae/i, families, and students.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in fundraising, with particular experience in higher education annual giving, communications, and marketing.
- Management experience is required.
- Strong computer skills, for composing correspondence, list management, and data analysis. Knowledge of internet technology and trends in giving.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to proofread are key.
- Ability to exercise and maintain discretion, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
- Must possess a high level of motivation and organization with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Maintenance of deadlines and achievement of ambitious goals are a priority.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work outside of normal business hours.
- Able to work well in a complex and/or team-oriented environment.
- Must have an appreciation for the value of a liberal arts education in a culturally diverse community.
Schedule
This full-time staff position has a standard schedule of 35 hours per week and is eligible for hybrid remote work.
