Binghamton University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, established with $60 million in state funding, is housed in a 105,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility on the University’s Health Sciences Campus. The school, which enrolled its inaugural PharmD class in 2017, is dedicated to transforming human health through contemporary medication management and innovative research. It trains future graduates to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care, with a focus on underserved rural and geriatric communities. The school features a cutting-edge pharmacy simulation laboratory, including a 797-compliant sterile room, a community pharmacy with robotic dispensing, a patient home setting, and hospital rooms equipped with advanced monitoring and high-fidelity manikins. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the school also offers MS and PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences, launched in 2022, to advance translational, clinical, and outcomes research.

About the role

This 12-month, full-time, in-person position reports directly to the Dean and is responsible for managing the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ recruitment and admission processes, coordinating enrollment initiatives, and supporting the achievement of enrollment goals. The Director of Admissions will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategic recruitment plans for the PharmD program and graduate programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences, nurture relationships with other colleges and universities, and oversee all facets of the admissions process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic recruitment plans for PharmD and graduate programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to maximize outreach and recruitment of Binghamton University undergraduates.
  • Coordinate and execute student and enrollment initiatives, including outreach campaigns, recruitment events, prospective student advising, and onboarding of accepted students.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of articulation agreements and professional relationships with counselors, professors, teachers, and other education professionals to enhance awareness of the School and the pharmacy profession.
  • Manage the admissions process in collaboration with faculty, staff, and the Admissions Committee.
  • Direct and oversee student admission activities, including compiling and maintaining student admission records and data collection.
  • Manage the processes for student candidate interview days, including training faculty and coordinating logistics.
  • Oversee the School’s online application services, PHARMCAS and SLATE.
  • Coordinate and track graduate student funding offers.
  • Assist in data compilation related to admissions and enrollment, such as enrollment trends, student demographics, and workforce trends to advance the School’s strategic plan and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness with the Dean, Director of Student Affairs, and Director of Assessment, and implement improvements to the admissions process.
  • Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations related to recruitment and admissions.
  • Supervise the Office of Admissions staff and manage the Admissions budget and procurement activities in adherence to School, SUNY, and University financial policies.
  • Represent the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at internal and community events.
  • Contribute to the School’s accreditation requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., student affairs, higher education administration, counseling, communications, public relations, human development/psychology/sociology) with at least three years of experience in higher education settings.
  • Experience with admissions or recruiting.
  • Public speaking experience.

Qualifications

  • Interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
  • Understanding of institutional and SUNY policies, procedures, and administrative processes, and the ability to apply them consistently.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty and administration across the School of Pharmacy and Binghamton University.
  • Initiative and ability to work with a diverse population and within a team structure.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends for recruitment and promotional purposes.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time for recruitment (primarily regional).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in pharmacy or another health professional school admissions division.
  • Experience with an online application management portal system.
  • Experience supervising personnel in higher education settings.

Pay

$64,474 - $90,000 (commensurate with education and experience).
