Accountabilities
- Owes the accounting and reporting functions while building effective processes, controls, and teams to support organizational growth.
- Partners with senior leaders to ensure accurate financial information, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Leads all day-to-day financial accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, collections, payments, banking activities, reconciliations, and cash management.
- Establishes, documents, and maintains financial accounting policies, procedures, controls, and training materials.
- Manages month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Owns and optimizes the financial ERP system, including enhancements, functionality improvements, and long-term scalability.
- Develops processes to track and report project-level financial performance and operational metrics.
- Oversees financial reporting activities, ensuring reports are accurate, accessible, and delivered effectively to leadership teams.
- Designs and strengthens internal controls, risk management frameworks, and compliance processes.
- Builds, manages, and develops a high-performing accounting organization, including recruitment, coaching, and employee engagement.
- Provides financial insights, recommendations, and strategic support to executive leadership.
- Promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Experienced accounting and finance leader with strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Active CPA certification required.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, and finance operations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes, internal controls, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience preparing, analyzing, and reporting financial statements.
- Experience leading accounting teams, including remote employees and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executives and business partners.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and process improvement.
- Experience with Workday Financials is highly preferred; candidates with experience in other financial systems should demonstrate the ability to quickly adapt to new ERP platforms.
- Non-profit organization experience is highly recommended.
- Ability to work successfully in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment with flexibility and strong ownership.
