Director of Accounting - Real Estate Responsibilities Lead all day-to-day accounting and fund finance activities across a growing real estate investment platformOversee financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functionsDirect monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while ensuring timely and accurate reportingManage accounting and reporting for investment vehicles, operating entities, and real estate assetsPrepare and review consolidated financial statements and investor reporting packagesPartner with senior leadership to evaluate financial performance, operational trends, and portfolio metricsDevelop and enhance accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures to support continued growthCoordinate annual audits and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors and tax professionalsMonitor compliance with accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control standardsSupport budgeting, forecasting, treasury activities, and cash flow planning across the organizationProvide financial analysis and recommendations to improve efficiency, profitability, and investment performanceMentor and develop accounting staff while helping build a scalable finance infrastructure Director of Accounting - Real Estate Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred)8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experienceExtensive Real Estate accounting experience is required, ideally within private equity real estate, REITs, self-storage, commercial real estate, or real estate investment platformsStrong background in fund accounting, entity accounting, and consolidated financial reportingExperience overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesDeep understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principlesPrior experience managing external audits, tax advisors, and investor reporting processesExperience leading and developing accounting teamsStrong knowledge of ERP systems; Yardi experience highly preferredProven ability to oversee multiple entities, investments, and complex ownership structuresExperience working closely with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, budgeting, forecasting, and operational performanceStrong analytical, communication, and project management skills
