Director of Accounting

About the Role

High-impact leadership role reporting directly to the CFO with true ownership of the accounting function. Opportunity to step into a growing organization preparing for significant portfolio expansion. Ability to build, lead, and shape the accounting team and processes during a key growth phase. True “number two” role with visibility into strategic decisions and deal activity. Opportunity to create structure, improve processes, and elevate the overall finance function. Hybrid schedule with 3 days in office in Boston alongside a collaborative leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the accounting team, driving accountability, performance, and process improvement
• Oversee financial reporting, including investor and external reporting requirements
• Manage HUD / residential real estate accounting and compliance
• Partner with the CFO on cash flow, financial strategy, and scaling the finance function

Qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting experience within real estate, with residential / HUD
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams
• Experience with financial reporting for external stakeholders and investors
• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or Master's preferred
