Director of Accounting

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements
• Coordinate and manage external audits and liaise with auditors
• Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, overheads, inventory, hedge accounting and bank reconciliations
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to ensure high performance and professional growth
• Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the team
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
• Possess strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Work in a fast-paced challenging environment where new procedures and control need to be developed to adapt to changes in business requirements
• Partner with other departments to ensure financial alignment with organizational goals
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
• Oversee the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and software
• Ensure data integrity and security within financial systems

Requirements

• Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role
• Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s or CPA; experience with RightAngle; experience with hedge accounting under ASC 815, including hedge designation, effectiveness assessment, documentation, and accounting treatment for commodity and derivative hedging activities; experience in Physical and Financial Commodity Trading; primarily Oil & Gas
• Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards; excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in accounting software Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Excel; high attention to detail and analytical thinking; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
