We are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to lead financial operations for a hotel organization in Honolulu, Hawaii. This position will guide accounting strategy, strengthen reporting accuracy, and ensure sound controls that protect company assets and support business goals. The role also partners with leadership on budgeting, performance analysis, and operational planning while helping build a high-performing finance team. Due to the nature of the work and onsite requirements, preference will be given to Hawaii residents. Applicants should be able to reliably commute or reside within the region to meet business needs. Responsibilities:• Lead the accounting function by directing daily financial activities and ensuring timely, accurate completion of month-end close processes.• Produce financial statements, management reports, and performance analyses that support informed decision-making across the business.• Drive the annual budget cycle and recurring forecast updates, tracking results against targets and identifying key variances.• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory obligations, and internal control requirements.• Oversee audit preparation and serve as the primary finance contact for external auditors during financial statement reviews and audits.• Develop, coach, and evaluate accounting team members to promote accountability, technical growth, and strong execution.• Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, manage costs, and align financial practices with organizational objectives.• Support the effectiveness of finance-related technology and tools, including systems used for account reconciliations and reporting.• Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and consistency within the accounting department. • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required. • Demonstrated leadership experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the hospitality or hotel industry. • Strong command of month-end close, financial reporting, and preparation of audited financial statements. • Experience working with external auditors and managing financial statement audit activities. • Proficiency with BlackLine or similar account reconciliation and close management software. • Thorough understanding of internal controls, compliance practices, and financial governance standards. • Advanced analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to advise senior leadership effectively.
