DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING, AMERICAS
SharkNinja France · Needham, MA · 1 wk ago
Full-time
What You'll Do
- Own the Close — End to End
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for the Americas region with a relentless focus on accuracy, timeliness, and US GAAP compliance.
- Prepare and review financial analyses, flux analyses, and management reporting packages that give senior leadership clear, actionable visibility.
- Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis — bringing the accounting perspective to the table early and often.
- Drive timely reconciliations and ensure aged items get resolved, not recycled.
- Build Controls That Actually Work
- Own and continuously strengthen the internal control environment for the Americas region, with full alignment to SOX requirements.
- Be the go-to partner for internal and external auditors — managing deliverables, anticipating requests, and keeping audit cycles moving.
- Stay ahead of US GAAP changes that affect the region and implement them with precision.
- Play a meaningful role in SharkNinja's ongoing controls transformation — helping to mature and institutionalize a function that is being built for the long term, not just the next audit cycle.
- Break What's Broken. Build What's Better
- Conduct a clear-eyed audit of existing accounting processes and relentlessly pursue opportunities to simplify, automate, globalize, and scale.
- Lead workflow modernization initiatives that reduce manual effort, compress the close cycle, and build for where the business is going — not where it's been.
- Leverage Oracle ERP, AI, and reporting tools to drive data quality, visibility, and efficiency across the function.
- Support system implementations and enhancements as we continue to evolve our technology infrastructure.
- Take Ownership Across the Board
- Own accounting processes and technical guidance across multiple functional areas — and be willing to lean into new or ambiguous territory as the business grows.
- Step up when it matters. This role requires flexibility, range, and a genuine willingness to go beyond a defined scope.
- Develop People Who Want To Win
- Lead, coach, and invest in a team of accounting professionals — building long-term capability, not just short-term capacity.
- Create a culture of accountability, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement, where people are empowered to identify problems and own solutions.
- Set clear expectations, deliver honest feedback, and actively champion career growth for every member of your team.
- Model the "One Finance Team" mindset in everything you do — providing cross-functional leadership coverage and showing up for the broader organization.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated range across multiple functional accounting areas, with the ability to flex into new ones as the business demands.
- Strong command of US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
- Experience managing or supporting external audits.
- A proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- A process improvement mindset — not someone who maintains the status quo, but someone who dismantles it when something better is within reach.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with comfort presenting to senior stakeholders.
Preferred
- CPA license.
- Experience in a multinational consumer products or manufacturing company.
- Proficiency with Oracle ERP systems.
- Experience building or scaling accounting functions in a high-growth or transformational environment.
