Director, Nursing & Quality Resource - Behavioral Health (Remote)
About the role
The Director of Nursing & Quality Resource serves as an interim leader across various behavioral health facilities when a vacancy exists. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing the delivery of quality general and psychiatric care, recommending staff development programs, and assisting with policy revisions.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Enhances hospital visibility through community engagement on mental health and substance abuse needs.
- Supervises nursing management team where licensed and appropriate.
- Liaises between physicians, patients, referral sources, and employees.
- Ensures adequate staffing and meets hospital staffing and budget benchmarks.
- Assures proper supervision and evaluation processes for all staff members.
- Assists with employee orientation and reviews job assignments.
- Maintains oversight of the Infection Control Plan and monitors the quality/risk program.
- Demonstrates expertise in regulatory standards, including TJC, Medicaid, state, and federal laws.
- Identifies and addresses risk/safety concerns and leads teams to implement corrective actions.
- Collects and analyzes data on hospital performance, including incident reports.
- Develops and implements improvement plans using the PDCA method.
- Models excellent customer service and holds all staff accountable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred with relevant experience.
- Experience in psychiatric health care facilities, particularly with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients.
- Experience in healthcare quality, patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.
- Prior leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Active RN license with willingness to obtain Compact licenses in various states as needed.
- CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory standards including TJC, Medicaid, state, and federal laws.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with medical staff, department directors, and administration.
- Ability to manage and evaluate staff members and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor nursing management teams.
- Experience in developing and implementing improvement plans using the PDCA method.
