Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for all mental health programs and clinical services
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient, effective, and compliant service delivery
- Develop, implement, and evaluate mental health programs and initiatives
- Provide clinical services, evaluations, and treatments as part of the overall department workload
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical and administrative staff
- Attend facility meetings with medical, custody and civilian staff
- Develop a procedure for the collection of monthly department statistics
- Establish and monitor quality assurance and performance improvement measures
- Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and organizational growth
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing plans in coordination with the facility Health Services Administrator (HSA)
- Foster partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and external providers
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and data analysis to support decision-making
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent independent clinical license in the state where services are provided
- Clinical experience, including supervisory or leadership experience (correctional or institutional experience preferred)
- Knowledge of evidence-based mental health practices and correctional health care standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
