Director, Medical Science Liaison, Oncology
TSP is engaged in a direct hire search for a Lung Medical Science Liaison role with one of our clients. This position involves peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals, serving as a therapeutic expert and thought partner to internal teams, and acting as a liaison between the client and clinical study sites or investigators. The role also supports medical education, advisory boards, and medical congresses.
About the role
The Lung Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is an essential member of the Medical Affairs team, serving as a key liaison between the client and healthcare professionals within an assigned geographic territory. The MSL will cultivate and strengthen relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers, and academic centers of excellence involved in product development. This role requires collaboration with stakeholders across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Program Management, Clinical Operations, and Compliance teams.
The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, detail-oriented, proactive, and a skilled collaborator. The candidate should be located within an hour's drive of a major airport.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions to advance scientific and medical knowledge.
- Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
- Support the synthesis and communication of scientific insights from KOLs to relevant internal teams.
- Provide scientific support for medical congresses, advisory boards, and other relevant scientific engagements to enhance organizational visibility.
- Establish credibility as a scientific expert and resource for internal stakeholders, providing medical and scientific support for products and therapeutic areas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Marketing, and other teams to support medical strategies and tactics.
- Stay current with scientific literature, emerging research, and the competitive landscape.

Requirements
- Doctoral degree in a scientific or medical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience as an MSL or in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- 3+ years of experience as an MSL working in the lung cancer disease state area.
- Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies and drug development processes.
- Knowledge and experience within the oncology therapeutic area.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to analyze and synthesize scientific information effectively.
- Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific data to diverse audiences.
- Strong networking skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals.
- Self-directed and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lung and gastrointestinal cancers.
- Experience with both early and late-stage clinical assets as well as approved therapies.
Pay
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $236,000 to $259,000 USD. This role may also include eligibility to earn commissions or bonuses based on company and individual performance, along with robust equity awards, strong benefits, and significant learning and development opportunities.
