About the role

The Lung Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a key liaison between the client and healthcare professionals, engaging in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue to translate insights, acting as a therapeutic expert, and supporting medical education, advisory boards, and medical congresses. This role operates within an assigned geographic territory, cultivating relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers, and academic centers. The MSL collaborates with internal teams, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, and Compliance, to advance medical and scientific strategies.

The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, detail-oriented, proactive, and a skilled collaborator, located within an hour's drive of a major airport.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions to advance scientific and medical knowledge.
  • Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
  • Synthesize and communicate scientific insights from KOLs to relevant internal teams.
  • Provide scientific support for medical congresses, advisory boards, and other scientific engagements to enhance organizational visibility.
  • Establish credibility as a scientific expert and resource for internal stakeholders, supporting products and therapeutic areas.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Marketing, and other teams to execute medical strategies.
  • Stay current with scientific literature, emerging research, and the competitive landscape.
  • Adhere to company Core Values and policies.
  • Understand regulatory requirements for customer engagement by field-based employees.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a scientific or medical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience as an MSL or in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • 3+ years of experience as an MSL in the lung cancer disease state area.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies and drug development processes.
  • Knowledge and experience within the oncology therapeutic area.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze and synthesize scientific information effectively.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific data to diverse audiences.
  • Proven networking skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals.
  • Self-directed and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in lung and gastrointestinal cancers.
  • Experience with both early and late-stage clinical assets as well as approved therapies.

Pay

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $236,000 to $259,000 USD. This role may also include eligibility for commissions or bonuses based on company and individual performance, as well as robust equity awards, benefits, and learning and development opportunities.
