About the Role
Provide legal advice on a range of broker-dealer and bank services including institutional trading of equity and fixed income securities, originations of equity and fixed income instruments, ETFs, and municipal securities offerings, and the offering of outsourced trading services.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice and assistance to business, Credit, Risk, and Compliance partners concerning legal, regulatory, and reputational issues arising from fixed income equities businesses.
- Advise on new markets, new product and service development, and strategic business initiatives.
- Work closely with internal clients.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal contracts and other documents.
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate proposed regulations and their application to the business.
- Oversee and manage the retention of outside counsel on business initiatives and other matters.
- Maintain an understanding of global regulatory issues.
Requirements
- JD and NY Bar admission.
- Minimum 10 years of experience at a law firm and/or large financial institution covering fixed income and equity sales and trading activities.
- Knowledge of current regulatory issues impacting institutional sales and trading and capital markets businesses.
- Ability to provide strategic legal advice in a busy environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to staying informed about legal trends in the financial services industry.
