Director, Maintenance & Supply Chain Purchasing

This position reports to the VP of Distribution. Direct reports include the Senior Manager of Maintenance 800, Managers at 400 and 600, and the Manager of Purchasing/Procurement, with dotted-line partnership across DC leadership, finance, Safety/EHS, construction, and operations teams. Safety/EHS remains an independent partner function, while this role owns execution of facilities-related safety standards, maintenance compliance, vendor safety requirements, OSHA readiness, and corrective action completion across all distribution centers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance strategies, preventative maintenance programs, build system readiness, equipment uptime, repair planning, and facility reliability across three distribution centers and corporate facilities.
  • Oversee all purchasing activities, procurement governance, supplier selection, contract negotiations, vendor performance, service agreements, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Own the vendor contract lifecycle, including bid processes, pricing reviews, service-level expectations, renewal timing, compliance, and escalation management.
  • Partner with DC operations leaders to prioritize maintenance needs, capital projects, safety improvements, capacity planning, and operational risk mitigation.
  • Partner closely with Safety/EHS leadership to ensure facilities-related safety standards, maintenance compliance, contractor safety requirements, OSHA readiness, and corrective action plans are executed consistently across the DC network.
  • Develop annual budgets, forecast maintenance and procurement spending, identify savings opportunities, and perform P&L variance analysis on actuals vs. Budget and prior year.
  • Standardize policies, purchasing controls, maintenance procedures, supplier scorecards, and best practices across the distribution network.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams through clear accountability, coaching, succession planning, and performance management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, procurement, supply chain, distribution, industrial operations, or related fields.
  • 5+ years leading managers.
  • Proven experience managing vendor contracts, purchasing programs, budgets, and multi-site operations.
  • Strong financial discipline, negotiation skills, safety mindset, and ability to drive standardization across complex facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience supporting distribution centers, fulfillment operations, automation, material handling equipment, construction projects, or large-scale maintenance programs (preferred).
  • Certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CFM, PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma are a plus.
