About the Role

Centric Brands has an opportunity for an experienced Logistics/Carrier Operations Director who will be a key leader and influencer within our Global Supply Chain. This position reports directly to the VP, Logistics. The Director will lead the team’s accountability for all international carrier (ocean/air/parcel) operations globally for our Fashion Apparel & Accessories business. This critical role involves strategic planning of our international transportation network, operational execution of all shipments to delivery, negotiation of contracts with carriers and 3PL/4PL providers, and development of team members. The role also leads the audit and payment of shipments globally and third-party operators.

An ideal candidate will be innovative, highly influential, and drive result-oriented solutions while navigating ambiguity and providing balanced decision-making. They are passionate about solving complex problems and developing team members in a high-volume, growth-oriented environment, with a mindset for building durable solutions at scale. The candidate will have extensive experience in logistics management of carriers, people, processes, visibility platforms, and consolidators.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic:
    • Develop and implement short/long-term logistics/carrier/operation strategies to support organizational growth cost-effectively while improving service and reliability.
    • Collaborate across internal divisions to align logistics strategy with key growth areas, including sourcing, container utilization, shipment consolidations, and alternative routings.
    • Negotiate ocean/air/parcel contracts, rates, and capacity, leveraging relationships to support seasonal shipping requirements by division and origin.
    • Support Asia Operations/Allocation/Booking teams with carrier oversight and improvements.
    • Direct the relationship with third-party freight auditors to ensure timely, accurate payment at competitive rates.
    • Propose, create, and execute transportation allocation, capacity, and transit strategies, including contingency plans for sales fluctuations, supply/demand changes, and market volatility.
    • Identify, develop, implement, and enhance shipping visibility tools, reports, dashboards, and milestone timeliness to proactively manage and improve the logistics network.
    • Oversee the movement of freight from the original port of load through transshipment ports to the destination port, ensuring timely movement and faster service/support.
    • Provide complete, timely, and accurate data for quoted, booked, in-transit, and delivered shipments, including fiscal accruals and payment information for global ocean/air/parcel shipments.
  • Team Management:
    • Develop an action-based, customer service-oriented team through coaching, directing, and leading by example to cultivate a culture of exceeding expectations, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving.
    • Build robust, trusting relationships with the team, internal customers, and partners to enhance logistics capabilities and service standards.
    • Lead a team of 4+ direct reports and supporting staff located globally.
  • Day-to-Day Operations:
    • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with effective communication and thorough follow-through.
    • Create and execute transportation allocation and capacity strategies, including contingency plans for varying sales levels and market volatility.
    • Ensure complete and accurate visibility of freight at all times, leveraging relationships to optimize shipping options (e.g., transshipments with improved sailing options).
    • Proactively prevent and resolve issues before they are identified by internal customers, bringing solutions and answers.
    • Develop and utilize KPIs, metrics, and reporting to drive execution, accountability, and process uniformity across divisions, regions, and transportation providers.
    • Own transit time performance, models, and updates to ensure accurate data and optimal performance.
    • Lead weekly carrier calls to review performance, open items, delayed shipments, pending bookings, and future forecasts while ensuring milestone accuracy.
    • Participate in off-hour origin, forwarder, and vendor calls as needed.
    • Standardize, document, and improve logistics processes, standard operating procedures, and playbooks to implement best practices across the department.
    • Perform ad hoc analysis and other tasks as needed by leadership.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of international transportation experience in a fast-paced environment, with at least 7 years in a leadership role for an importer (US and/or Global) or 3rd Party Logistics Provider (apparel experience is a plus).
  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent (preferred).
  • Ability to hit the ground running as a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter with strong project management and delegation skills.
  • High analytical ability to gather, interpret, and visualize data at a granular level to develop and implement solutions. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.
  • Strong background in developing and leading service providers operationally, negotiating costs, and building KPIs to audit performance and processes (SOPs, SOWs).
  • Proven ability as a passionate, people-centric leader with exceptional interpersonal skills to build a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and performance.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and synthesize multiple viewpoints into streamlined action plans with quantifiable results.
  • Proven track record of anticipating issues and implementing processes to address them proactively, with the ability to adjust quickly.
  • Project management experience with Lean or Six Sigma (highly valued), including process mapping and redesign.
  • High-level expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PPT, Word) and data visualization tools/dashboard development (e.g., Power BI).
  • Knowledge of SAP systems is helpful.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%).

Pay

Salary Range: $175,000 - $190,000. The stated base salary range represents our good faith estimate of what candidates are likely to expect. Offers are tailored within this range based on the selected candidate’s educational and professional experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other relevant factors. Base salary is part of a total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, annual bonuses, and other Centric Brands-sponsored benefit programs.
