Director / Lead, Commercial Analytics & Forecasting
About the role
We are seeking a Lead for commercial and market access analytics, with a strong background in forecasting, for our Biologics portfolio. As an analyst specializing in Biologics, you will develop accurate and insightful forecasts and data-driven analytics to support pre- and post-launch strategic decision-making and business planning for biologic products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate insights that inform key business initiatives and drive commercial success in the biopharmaceutical market.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in forecasting and commercial analytics in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in the Biosimilars and/or Novel Biologics space. This role is a key member of the Biologics commercial team, reporting to the Head of Commercial Strategy & Analytics, Biologics North America, and will play an important support role in all aspects of commercial analytics leading up to Biologic/Biosimilar launches. Near-term launch pipeline includes a first-to-market niche Biosimilar in Rheumatology and a novel Biologic for ALS. The role offers tremendous learning opportunity and exposure within the organization with an exciting product pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Lead data-driven analytics to support go-to-market strategy initiatives, including Market Access, Channel, and field strategies.
- Segment and prioritize target payers and healthcare organizations to maximize product reach and acceptance.
- Lead market access analytics, including coverage and utilization analytics.
- Collect, analyze, and integrate data from multiple primary and secondary data sources (sales data, forecast reports, payer coverage and claims data, etc.) to inform forecast assumptions and extract meaningful business insights.
- Lead and develop accurate product sales and profitability projections for portfolio evaluation, licensing/M&A activities, and long-range planning using sound analytical assumptions and effective communication of rationale.
- Identify, gather, and rigorously analyze information to generate a deeper understanding of the therapy area, product and its variants, pricing, and brand life cycle management.
- Proactively and continuously assess the relevant marketplace and its dynamics, customers, and competitors.
- Track and analyze product performance metrics, including sales, market share, and profitability.
- Apply data storytelling to extract insights from data and present to commercial stakeholders in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
- Lead commercial data management and develop the measurement and feedback strategy for performance metrics.
- Support in designing and creating dashboards for launch and post-launch KPI monitoring.
- Execute core forecasting activities for in-line and pipeline assets by overseeing the development, maintenance, and execution of advanced MS Excel-based forecasting models.
- Support the identification of key risks and opportunities inherent in the forecast and propose appropriate methodologies for addressing them.
- Provide ad-hoc analytical support on various business needs including product launch scenarios, market segmentation, demand projections, and the impact of channel/product mix updates.
- When required, become involved in primary market research studies for ad-hoc projects and deliver a clear set of recommendations that maximize commercial impact.
- Integrate primary research and secondary data with other market knowledge to draw inferences and conclusions.
- Proactively manage the flow of planned and ad hoc analytics requests, ensuring consistent quality and timeliness in delivery to business stakeholders.
- Collaborate extensively with Market Access, Sales, Business Development teams, and broader matrix teams (Finance, Portfolio, etc.).
- Support pricing analytics for biologic/biosimilar products based on market insights, value proposition, and competitive positioning.
- Support in building gross-to-net pricing models based on projected sales mix.
- Analyze pricing strategies of competitors in the biologics/biosimilar market and identify opportunities for differentiation and competitive advantage.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of Biotech or Pharma experience in Commercial analytics and forecasting; Biologic/Biosimilar experience preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S. or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
Skills
- 3+ years of Biotech or Pharma experience in Forecasting and/or Analytics, with Biologic/Biosimilar experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge in analytical disciplines, such as forecasting and secondary data analytics.
- Excellent command over MS Excel; SQL and Python skills an added plus.
- Experience working with payer coverage analytics (MMIT or similar datasets) and claims analytics (LAAD, Symphony, DocNexus, or similar datasets) is highly preferred.
- Experience working with IQVIA modules (NSP, NPA, DDD), Forecasting modules (IPD, Global data, etc.), desired.
- Extensive knowledge and use of both primary research and secondary data sources.
- Ability to connect analytics with overarching business questions and understand the link between brand strategy and analytic insights.
- Basic understanding of Biologics/Biosimilar market landscape, pricing, and reimbursement would be an added benefit; understanding/working knowledge of Buy&Bill market is a big plus.
- Experience in designing/working on launch monitoring dashboards would be a plus.
- Attention to detail and ability to operate on less-than-perfect data by applying a sound logical framework.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and drive outcomes.
- Agile and entrepreneurial mindset to work in a highly dynamic space.
