Director-IT Operations

About the role

The role involves leading the IT operations function at Bish’s RV, a 27-store RV dealer group. This position requires transforming a scrappy IT operation into a structured enterprise-level function while maintaining the urgency and practicality that drove the company's initial success.

Responsibilities

• Lead a lean team in IT operations, including system administrators and help desk technicians.
• Communicate technology changes and drive adoption across various departments.
• Manage end-user support and service desk operations.
• Handle endpoint lifecycle and asset management, including provisioning and fulfilling machines for new hires.
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for new and departing employees.
• Ensure network and connectivity across 27 dealerships, including new locations.
• Coordinate new-store buildouts, including cabling, networking, and equipment purchasing.
• Administer the Dealer Management System (DMS), CRM, and other core business platforms.
• Manage cloud and Microsoft 365 environments, including administration and operational aspects.
• Administer and govern the company’s AI platform, ensuring responsible and cost-effective use.
• Maintain cybersecurity and compliance standards, including patching, hygiene, and SOC partnerships.
• Implement backup, recovery, and business continuity plans.
• Manage vendor and managed service provider relationships.
• Own the IT operations budget and manage expenditures.
• Run large initiatives end-to-end, such as acquisitions and hardware rollouts.

Requirements

You must have experience leading an IT operations or infrastructure team, preferably in a multi-site or distributed environment. Experience in retail, dealership, or other physical-location businesses is a plus. You should be a strong people leader, able to hire, develop, and retain technical talent, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Technical proficiency is essential, including hands-on M365 administration and Microsoft licensing experience. You should also have experience modernizing IT from startup mode toward enterprise maturity.
