Director, Investment Strategy

Lead the onboarding of firms joining Focus onto the unified investment platform. Engage with firms post-closing to understand their current investment approach, build relationships with leadership and advisory teams, and develop a transition plan for client portfolios and proprietary strategies. Oversee execution of the plan with support from analysts, ensuring smooth migration to Focus-approved options while minimizing tax consequences and maintaining high client retention.

Responsibilities

  • Create and oversee the execution of integration plans that successfully bring firms onto Focus’s unified investment platform.
  • Develop an understanding of legacy firms’ investment portfolios and proprietary strategies.
  • Work with legacy firms to select approved investment platform options for client portfolios.
  • Collaborate with the portfolio operations team to integrate targets into centralized portfolio management.
  • Oversee the gradual migration out of legacy positions into recommended strategies, mindful of tax consequences.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to legacy firm and investment leadership teams, communicating effectively and building buy-in.
  • Educate legacy firm advisors on the investment platform to ensure confidence in client and prospect communications.
  • Coordinate with integration leadership and other functional areas to manage sequencing, scheduling, and status updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • 15+ years of work experience in investment-related, communications, or technical positions.
  • Experience with trading and rebalancing on the investment side for integration roles.
  • Broad knowledge of public and private investment strategies.
  • Experience working with portfolio models and portfolio rebalancing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through multi-phase projects.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and work as a team player.
  • Experience with M&A investment integration.
  • Skilled at building trust and respect with business leaders and advisors.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple demands with high attention to detail.
  • Experience planning projects or initiatives, including resource loading and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, high ethical standards, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business leaders and advisors in group and one-on-one settings.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions balancing multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.

Pay

The annualized base pay range for this role is $240,000–$260,000. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location, and skill set. The base pay is one component of the total compensation package, which may also include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
