Days
Patient Care
- Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans
- Implement treatment, follow-up and evaluate patient within the scope of practice protocols as outlined by state statute
- Evaluate and revise intervention care/treatment plan with patient and family as necessary to achieve improved health
- Provide education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of the prescribed medical treatment
- Work as a team member with medical/nursing/counseling staff to provide comprehensive care and promote continuity of care
- Guide, teach, support and serve as a clinical resource nursing and medical staff
- Support research by conducting or participating in research studies; incorporate findings in clinical practice
- Provide and coordinate clinical learning experience for staff; ensure patient education
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
Standards
- Establish specific standards and objectives for clinical departments
- Ensure implementation of and compliance with standards, objectives and operating policies and procedures
Liaison
- Act as liaison as necessary between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other departments to promote and facilitate communication, problem solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict management
Records
- Maintain departmental reports and records
- Collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes
Committees and Meetings
- Attend technical and administrative meetings
- Participate in committee functions
- Participate in hospital-wide activities and committees within the scope of this position or as directed
Patient Safety
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
Qualifications
- Education: Program Graduate, Master's Degree (specialization: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)
- Experience: 1 year directly related experience, Completion of the Hospitals approved training program with in six months of assignment
- Credentials: ACLS or PALS as applicable, CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days, Advanced Practice RN or Physician Asst Lic & NCCPA Cert
- Physical Conditions: Medium Work, Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE Sub to credential.failure obtain/maintain may result in term Subject to an annual contract and performance appraisal, Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required
