The organization is the leading public safety AI company that unlocks mission-critical intelligence for first responders and security teams – enabling faster, smarter, and more accurate emergency response. About the Role

The Director, IT is a player-coach responsible for building, providing strategic direction, and operating modern, scalable IT infrastructure. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Operations within the Product, Data & Engineering division, this role will serve as the leader of IT and the bridge between IT operations and security. This is a high-impact role for a leader who knows how to strengthen IT infrastructure in a regulated environment without slowing down innovation. This role will own the company's application landscape, aid in compliance (SOC 2), and drive an automation-first culture to reduce toil across a high-volume, international, remote-first environment. By strengthening the organization's internal systems and operations, this role will help teams deliver technology that supports first responders and public safety agencies globally.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily IT operations and own the organization's application landscape, ensuring a well-governed, rationalized SaaS portfolio with SSO and SCIM provisioning wherever possible
  • Define and execute a roadmap to accelerate IT maturity by deploying AI-assisted tools to automate core lifecycle workflows—specifically access provisioning, hardware management, and employee transitions
  • Identify and champion technology-enabled opportunities that enhance operational efficiency, innovation, scalability, and reduce toil via automation
  • Provide leadership and direction to IT Systems Admins and Help Desk staff
  • Develop and own the corporate IT budget, evaluate vendor contracts, and procure software/hardware solutions
  • Partner with InfoSec to operationalize incident response and vulnerability management
  • Support a distributed workforce using GSuite, Okta, Claude, and Replit across a fleet of primarily MacBook Air and Windows 11 hardware

Requirements

  • 7+ years of IT experience, including 4+ years in IT leadership roles, ideally within fast-growing technology companies
  • Willingness to roll up their sleeves for technical execution while simultaneously building long-term strategy
  • An "AI mentality" to IT, with a proven track record of leveraging automation and AI to reduce operational toil, simplify processes, and systematically eliminate low-value work through thoughtful prioritization and backlog management
  • Strong capability and comfort managing, integrating, supporting, and optimizing a broad portfolio of business applications, with demonstrated skill in strategically evaluating when to build, buy, or outsource solutions and effectively managing vendors and external partners
  • Experience running IT operations for a remote-first, international workforce
  • Strong command of identity and access management (SSO, SCIM, MFA) and experience contributing to compliance frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA
  • Ability to earn trust and collaborate with both executives and individual contributors

Benefits

  • The chance to work with a passionate team on solving one of the largest challenges globally
  • Competitive salary and benefits and equity participation
  • A dynamic, flexible, and fun start-up work environment with a highly talented team

Pay

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $190,000. This role will also be eligible to receive equity options.
