Director, Health Sciences
Rogue Community College seeks a Director of Health Sciences to provide strategic and operational leadership for the college's Health Sciences programs, fostering excellence in teaching, learning, student success, and program quality. The director collaborates with faculty, staff, healthcare partners, and college leadership to oversee academic programs, accreditation, regulatory compliance, personnel, and operations while supporting continuous improvement to meet evolving community and regional workforce needs.
About the Role
The Director of Health Sciences oversees multiple Health Sciences programs, ensuring they remain responsive to workforce needs through academic program planning, curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation. This role involves managing accreditation and regulatory compliance, supervising personnel, and supporting organizational effectiveness in a unionized environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for Health Sciences programs.
- Oversee academic program planning, curriculum development, and student learning assessment.
- Ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance for Health Sciences programs.
- Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Manage program operations, including budgeting, resource allocation, and enrollment planning.
- Build relationships with healthcare partners, accrediting agencies, and community stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement and program evaluation to meet workforce needs.
- Interpret and apply college policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws.
- Exercise sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in education, higher education leadership, educational administration, organizational leadership, healthcare administration, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in postsecondary education, career and technical education, workforce education, healthcare education, or a comparably complex educational organization, including responsibility for academic program planning, curriculum, assessment, scheduling, student success, program evaluation, accreditation, or continuous improvement.
- Two years of experience in a formal supervisory, management, or department chair/coordinating role directing employees, evaluating performance, and supporting organizational effectiveness.
- Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment (for assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting or leading healthcare, health sciences, allied health, nursing, public safety, career and technical education, or another regulated professional program.
- Experience working in a community college or other public higher education environment.
- Experience with specialized accreditation or regulatory compliance.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.

Physical Demands
- Manual dexterity and coordination for extended periods while operating office equipment.

- Ability to move materials up to 5 pounds daily, 5–25 pounds rarely, and 25–60 pounds rarely.
- Verbal and written communication abilities.
Working Conditions

Pay
Starting compensation is based on Grade L of the 2026-27 salary schedule, with consideration given to related experience and educational achievement. Placement generally does not exceed the midpoint of the range.
Schedule
Full-time exempt/managerial position (100%, 246 days/year).
