Director, Health Equity

Position Summary

The Director, Health Equity reports to the SVP, Pediatric Health Equity Strategies and Chief Health Equity Officer (CHEO) and serves as a strategic and operational leader in advancing our enterprise-wide health equity mission. The Director leads the development, implementation and oversight of health equity initiatives, research programs, and collaborative partnerships that promote equitable care, and improved outcomes for children and families. This role serves as a key partner to the SVP/CHEO in integrating health equity strategies across clinical, academic, and operational areas of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the SVP/CHEO to develop and implement enterprise-wide health equity strategies, initiatives, and research programs.

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Office of Health Equity & Inclusion and oversee strategic priorities and program implementation.

• Direct and manage multidisciplinary initiatives and collaborations involving clinical, academic, and administrative leaders across the Boston Children's enterprise.

• Oversee program budgets, financial planning, resource allocation, and the administration of grant-funded initiatives.

• Support the development and management of pertinent funding opportunities and grants that advance health equity research and programs.

• Lead and support health equity research initiatives and contribute to academic scholarship through publications, presentations, and dissemination of best practices.

• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with Harvard Medical School and participate in national health equity collaborations and professional organizations.

• Cookordinate enterprise-wide committees, advisory groups, and working groups that support health equity initiatives and research.

• Establish program goals, metrics, and evaluation strategies to measure program effectiveness and impact.

• Oversee project management processes, including planning, risk mitigation, and change management.

• Develop educational programming and training initiatives that promote pediatric health equity.

• Lead initiatives addressing health-related social needs and support recruitment and career pathway programs.

• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Public Health, or related field required; Master's preferred.

• At least eight years of leadership experience in healthcare administration, health equity, academic medicine, research administration, or related field.

• Demonstrated experience leading complex, enterprise-wide initiatives and multidisciplinary collaborations.

• Experience managing program budgets, financial planning, and grant-funded programs.

• Experience supporting or leading health equity research initiatives and academic scholarship.

• Experience collaborating with academic institutions, faculty, and external partners, including national organizations.

• Exceptional leadership, relationship management, analytical, and project management skills.

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated cultural humility and ability to work effectively in complex, highly collaborative environments.

• Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
