Director, Global Enterprise Communications
About the Role
As a Director on the Global Enterprise Communications team, you will serve as a strategic counselor to senior enterprise executives, driving integrated communications that span functional communications, internal associate engagement, and targeted external campaigns. These efforts align business priorities and bolster Capital One’s reputation. You will lead a high-performing team, elevate the internal communications framework, and partner across complex corporate functions to deliver measurable impact. This position requires exceptional leadership, intellectual curiosity, judgment, teamwork, and a results-driven focus. An open mind and a passion for creative problem-solving are essential.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted partner relationships and serve as a strategic counselor to senior corporate executives and cross-functional leadership teams.
- Lead the strategy and execution of data-driven, 360-degree communications campaigns across internal and external touchpoints, aligning Line of Business (LOB) imperatives with enterprise narrative priorities.
- Leverage data analytics, audience sentiment, and modern digital channels to optimize communications performance and measure narrative impact.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of communications professionals, setting high standards for strategic counsel, operational execution, and talent development.
- Stay informed on financial services, bleeding-edge technology, and communications trends to continuously enhance team strategy and functional results.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or military experience
- At least 8 years of communications experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and executing integrated communications strategies, including high-impact executive and internal associate engagement, as well as external campaigns.
- 3+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of coaching and developing communications talent.
- Track record of serving as a trusted strategic counselor to senior functional executives in complex, matrixed, or highly regulated environments.
- Public Relations or Communications experience in financial services, technology, or consumer brands.

Pay
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
- McLean, VA: $190,300 - $217,200 for Director, Communications
- Richmond, VA: $173,000 - $197,400 for Director, Communications
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
