Director, Global Commercial Revenue
The Director, Global Commercial Revenue position is responsible for leading and managing the Commercial Sales team within the Sage Publishing Company. This role involves strategic planning, driving revenue growth, and fostering a positive corporate culture.
About the role
This position requires extensive experience in leading and managing global Commercial Sales teams, with a proven track record in delivering revenue growth from both print and digital advertising and content sponsorship in the publishing industry. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in non-subscription sales activities and possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and manage cost effectively.
- Manage the full sales cycle, including revenue enablement, marketing, data insights, CRM, and account support functions.
- Generate and track costs against an annual budget and collaborate with senior leadership to set and adjust targets as necessary.
- Ensure all direct sellers meet key KPIs for pipeline development, forecasting, and sales engagements using consultative selling techniques.
- Drive the use of the entire tech stack to achieve optimal return on investment on technology spend.
- Monitor, track, and mitigate expenses without losing sight of revenue targets.
- Track revenue with Sage’s accounting department and work with Accounts Receivable when required.
- Provide projections for acquisitions when needed and participate in key society and publishing conferences.
- Build and maintain relationships with other sales leaders at Sage to foster a corporate sales culture.
- Participate in the global Director Management Group and embrace various corporate imperatives including Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Continuous Improvement, Continuous Feedback, and Hybrid Working initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Prior experience as a Commercial Sales Director or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in leading and managing global Commercial Sales teams to success.
- Proven ability to communicate and sell to all levels of decision makers.
- Proven track record and experience in delivering revenue growth from print and digital advertising and content sponsorship in the publishing environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of non-subscription sales activities and products within the Medical/STM journal publication industry.
- History of judgement in relationship management including strong influencing, sales negotiation, and communication skills.
- Comprehensive experience and competency with formulating budgets, sales targets, and reporting of financial data to senior management.
- Ability to manage and hold accountable teams around the globe with challenging time zones.
- Track record of translating innovative ideas into delivered products.
- Proven examples of transforming commercial sales teams.
- Proven highly effective organizational and delegation skills, strong data literacy, strong motivational skills, and excellent communications skills within small and large settings.
- Proven highly effective team leadership, frontline seller management, coaching, goal setting, and monitoring performance goals.
- Able to demonstrate high level of problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
