Responsibilities

  • Direct the timely monthly closing of the General Ledger (GL) system, formulating and communicating schedules for closing.
  • Interpret and analyze financial results for management, including budget-to-actual variance analysis.
  • Direct the maintenance of accounting records using the GL system and propose system modifications to maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and technological changes.
  • Implement and oversee the development and enhancement of the general ledger and fixed asset subledger systems, including creating test plans for fixes and upgrades.
  • Coordinate the weekly processing of subsystem data into the General Ledger and oversee journal data entry.
  • Establish account analysis procedures, assign responsibilities to departments, and review and approve completed analyses.
  • Ensure timely submission of account reconciliations and adequate explanations of variances.
  • Guide the integration of all cash and temporary cash investment accounts into the General Ledger and ensure proper reconciliation.
  • Interact with Cash Management, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and other departments, as well as banking institutions, to resolve discrepancies.
  • Facilitate the development and flow of cash reconciliation information and recommend resolutions.
  • Direct the preparation of financial statements and provide explanatory comments for management decisions.
  • Direct both professional and agreement staff, assisting in hiring and training new General Ledger staff.
  • Provide supervision to the Manager of GL, Manager of Accounting, and Senior Manager of Fixed Assets and Inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Seven (7) years of applied progressive financial management experience.
  • CPA firm experience highly desired.

Skills

  • Knowledge of computerized financial systems required; understanding of financial subsystem operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
