About the role

The Department of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time, non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator to serve as Director of Gastrointestinal Pathology, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate diagnostic excellence in gastrointestinal pathology and have subspecialty fellowship training or highly focused experience in this area.
  • Display well-documented leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Play a key role in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows within the division.
  • Contribute to translational research opportunities, particularly in experimental pathology.

Requirements

  • Hold MD or MD/PhD degree and be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Illinois is required.
  • Fellowship training or substantial experience in gastrointestinal pathology is required.
  • Fellowship training in additional surgical pathology subspecialties is viewed favorably.

Qualifications

A record of scholarly activity in gastrointestinal pathology and/or one or more related areas is expected.

Skills

Expertise in gastrointestinal pathology and diagnostic experience or scholarly interests in other areas of pathology, including molecular pathology, computational pathology, or other surgical pathology subspecialties.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $200,000 - $365,000. Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.
