Director, Fund Accounting Manager
About the role
This role is located in Boston, MA and involves 4 days of in-office work per week. The responsibilities include:
- Directing a Fund Accounting area consisting of multiple teams responsible for accounting services including determining net asset values, calculating fund performance, allocating expenses, and preparing reports.
- Managing financial and human resources for the unit, ensuring teams operate effectively to meet goals and objectives.
- Executing business plans, contributing to functional strategy development, and setting guidelines for determining net asset value (NAV) across various sectors.
- Overseeing client relationship management, ensuring service levels meet client needs, resolving issues, and participating in sales efforts including RFP and RFI preparation.
- Providing oversight and guidance on financial statement disclosures, resolving complex escalated issues, and leading analysis of GAAP and IFRS rules to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Developing policies and setting priorities for drafting financial reports, communicating complex accounting details to clients, and managing relationships with senior auditors and clients.
- Recruiting, directing, motivating, and developing staff to maximize individual and team performance.
- Managing multiple Fund/Client Accounting teams primarily through subordinate managers and contributing to achieving team objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7-10 years of total work experience with at least 3-5 years in management preferred.
- Experience at a Big 4 accounting firm preferred.

- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards (GAAP and IFRS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle complex financial issues and provide clear explanations to clients.

Pay
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
Schedule
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
